“Bunch of Dishonest People”: Solomon Owusu Blasts NPP Over Conduct in Ablekuma North

Solomon Owusu, a communicator for the Movement for Change (MFC) party, founded by former New Patriotic Party (NPP) politician Alan Kyeremanten, has slammed the NPP over its conduct in regard to the Ablekuma North rerun elections.
Speaking during an interview, Owusu said the NPP’s claims of boycotting the elections are mere theatre because they have not sent any official documentation to the Electoral Commission to that effect.
“I’ve heard the NPP claiming they won’t participate in the elections. They’re lying, it’s all ‘azaa’. Have you seen them write an official letter to the Electoral Commission? We work with official documentation. They are so dishonest; I’ve never seen a more dishonest group of people than (NPP General Secretary) Justin Kodua Frimpong and (NPP National Organiser) Nana B.” Owusu fired.
He said he heard Kodua Frimpong ranting on radio that they will take action if their candidate is placed on the ballot paper, but Owusu wondered why they keep making threats without officially withdrawing their party’s candidate from the race.
“Weeding with your mouth doesn’t work. As a General Secretary, write an official letter to the EC, so that they will declare the NPP’s withdrawal,”
Owusu also called for officers of the Electoral Commission in Ablekuma North to be sanctioned for their conduct that allowed the elections to end without a clear winner.
Analysis of Solomon Owusu’s NPP criticism
Solomon Owusu continues to be one of the most entertaining political pundits in Ghana, going back to his attacks on the NPP in the lead-up to the 2024 elections.
His analysis of the NPP’s conduct in Ablekuma North is spot-on, as all elements of their response to the process is about political grandstanding.
It’s a shame but the NPP appears to be stuck in a loop of political theatre, instead of sitting down to diagnose why they lost the 2024 elections and to present a better face to Ghanaians.
