Former Deputy CEO of the National Youth Authority and known NPP communicator, Akosua Manu, has penned a heartfelt tribute to Hon. Akua Afriyie, the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for the Ablekuma North Constituency, ahead of the rerun of the party’s internal election in the area.

In a Facebook post filled with emotion and admiration, Akosua acknowledged the struggles and resilience that have defined Akua Afriyie’s political journey.

“Dear Hon Akua Afriyie,
I know the battles you have fought and the work you have done to get this far.

To work so hard and attain the goal but have victory snatched from your hands.

To be relentless against all odds yet be thrown higher hurdles after each success,” she wrote.

The tribute comes at a crucial moment, as the rerun election tests the NPP’s sustainability since they were bundled out of office in 2024.

Her message, however, rises above the politics, celebrating Afriyie not just as a candidate but as a symbol of perseverance.

“That is our lot and that is the hand we are dealt. Yet, you do not fight a lost battle because everything you have done makes you a champion to look up to,” she added.

Reflecting on Afriyie’s legacy, Akosuq affirmed the inspiration she has offered to many, especially women in politics.

“Someday, others will fly because you walked. You chose to work for your people and that will always be remembered,” she wrote.

She concluded the tribute with a powerful statement of solidarity and sisterhood.

“Those you have inspired will always stand and rise with you.
Sister-in-arms, Kozie”

This is a good post by a woman backing another woman achieve her full potential.

However, from where I sit, her statement appears to be a premeditated suggestion that Akua will lose this election, as she is offering her comforting words in advance.

The claim that she won the first election is misleading and serves as a means to empower her to come to terms with her situation concerning the current rerun.
