Ayariga Ordered to Drop ‘Dr.’ Title By July 31 Over Lack of Academic Proof – GTEC

Hassan Ayariga has been formally directed by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to immediately cease using the title “Dr.” following his failure to provide verifiable documentation supporting the academic claim.
Prof. Augustine Ocloo, GTEC stated that Ayariga had ignored previous requests to clarify the origin and legitimacy of his doctorate.
“To date, the Commission has not received any response from you.
“This continued silence is unacceptable,” a letter dated July 14, 2025, and signed by the Commission’s Deputy Director-General reads.
The Commission emphasized that the unauthorized use of academic titles is “misleading and inconsistent with the academic protocols and standards governing the conferment and use of academic ranks in Ghana.”
GTEC has given Ayariga until July 31, 2025, to remove the title “Dr.” from all official platforms, including documents, websites, and letterheads—or face possible legal action.
