Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira West, Hon. Rudolf Amoako-Gyampah has called on politicians to rise above party divisions and work together for the collective good of their constituents.

The MP emphasized that political rivalry should not translate into personal animosity or sabotage of development efforts.

“I don’t see my opponents as my enemies,” he stated on The Verdict with Isaac Addae on Starr 103.5 FM.

“I’m free with the DCE in my district. When they nominated him, I had to step in, talk to some of the Assembly Members to approve him.

Even his thanksgiving; I had to go with him. We’ve had that kind of relationship.”

Hon. Amoako-Gyampah stressed the need for mutual respect and a commitment to the well-being of citizens, regardless of political affiliations.

“I don’t see a reason why you’d have the mindset that because you’re not in my party, I have to delay you or I’m not going to approve certain things for you.

If you do that, then we are doing a disservice to the people of the constituency, not me as a person,” he noted.

He concluded with a heartfelt call for unity, stating, “I don’t think he is going to do that, so I don’t think most people have to learn that it is the people we’re serving.”

The comment made by the MP is indeed refreshing.

His own party, the NPP has a history of members who exhibit verbal abuse, often attacking individuals with little or no provocation whatsoever.

Individuals such as Chairman Wontumi, Abronye DC, and presidential hopeful Kennedy Agyapong have a well-documented record of aggressively confronting political rivals, often resorting to unsubstantiated claims to undermine their opponents.

While the NDC is not without fault in this area, the NPP has garnered a negative reputation.

Thus, Hon Gyampa serves as a wake-up call to all politicians, emphasizing the necessity to shift away from the prevailing culture and direction.
