Woman Re-Arrested After Boyfriend Dies from Acid Attack Injuries

Months after being granted bail, Vera Akosua Asare has been rearrested—this time, over the death of her boyfriend, Daniel Omane, who suffered critical injuries in an acid attack she allegedly carried out.
Omane died a few days ago after a prolonged struggle with complications from the burns. His death has shifted the case significantly, prompting fresh legal action against Vera.
The incident occurred in March 2025 when neighbours in Koforidua were jolted by Omane’s screams in the early hours.
They rushed to his aid and found him with severe acid burns, reportedly inflicted while he was asleep in his room.
Co-tenants quickly apprehended Vera and handed her over to the police. She was arrested and remanded, but later granted bail to allow her to care for their young child.
Police initially suspected the attack was fuelled by suspicions of infidelity.
Though Omane was receiving intensive care at the Eastern Regional Hospital, his condition deteriorated over time until his recent passing.
With his death now confirmed, Vera is expected to face new charges in connection with the fatal incident.
