I Have Over 277 Houses in Ghana and It’s a Waste– Kennedy Agyapong

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has revealed deep regret over the scale of his real estate investments in Ghana, describing it as a costly miscalculation he wishes he had avoided.
Tthe former Assin Central MP admitted that his decision to invest in over 277 properties across the country had not paid off as expected. “I have so many houses here (Ghana) that I have regretted.
Some of them, I don’t even know. I have regretted because if I had invested that money in business, I would have made a lot of money,” he said on the Konnected Minds Podcast.
“I have over 277 houses in Ghana, and it is a waste. I have regretted buying those houses because I don’t get people to rent them.”
Agyapong explained that part of his motivation at the time was to secure assets for his children, especially his daughters.
“My plan is, if you’re a girl or a woman, you marry and your relationship doesn’t work, you come back home, you have your properties, you can dispose of some of them to start a business,” he said, revealing a personal philosophy grounded in family security.
He recalled the financial sacrifices he made during a turning point in his life when he had to let go of some properties to raise capital.
“At that time, anybody selling their property, except the real estate guys building, means he was broke. But I had to do it to start over.”
In a separate, unrelated interview with Pan African Television, Agyapong set politics aside to pay tribute to Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
According to him, Nkrumah’s development record remains unmatched in the country’s post-independence history.
“When you look at the existing infrastructure in this country, about 60% of it was done by Nkrumah in the period of nine years from 1957 to 1966, and up to now we’ve not been able to match what he did,” Agyapong said.
He added, “I go around the country, and I see the works of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, and he’s been my role model.”
