TI Ahmadiyya SHS Student Arrested for Stabbing Final-Year Mate

Police in the Upper West Region have arrested a student of TI Ahmadiyya Senior High School in Wa for allegedly stabbing a final-year colleague, Iddrissu Ibrahim, during a violent confrontation on campus.
The incident happened around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, following an argument between the two students over a video recording.
According to eyewitness accounts, the suspect accused Ibrahim of secretly filming him and demanded the footage be deleted. When Ibrahim refused, a scuffle broke out, resulting in the stabbing.
Upper West Regional Police Commander, DCOP Darko Offei Lomotey, confirmed the arrest, adding that the suspect is currently in custody assisting with investigations.
Plain-clothed officers have also been deployed to the school as part of a broader inquiry.
Iddrissu Ibrahim is in critical but stable condition and receiving treatment at the Wa Regional Hospital.
In a separate incident, authorities have shut down Zuarungu Senior High School in the Upper East Region after ethnic tensions between Kusasi and Frafra students erupted into violence over an alleged mobile phone theft.
The clashes, which occurred on Sunday, July 20, led to the destruction of school property and the burning of a shop outside the campus. Regional Minister Akamugri Donatus Atanga has ordered all students to return home, with police and military providing security escorts for their evacuation.
