Ransford Gyampo Denies Allegations of Recruiting 28 Women and Only Two Men to the Shippers Authority
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA), Ransford Gyampo, has denied social media rumours that he’s employing mostly women to work under him.
In a statement replying to the claims that he appointed a majority of females to the Authority, Gyampo said he is not in charge of recruitment at the agency.
“I have not recruited 28 women and two men as being alleged. I am not in charge of recruitment at my workplace. Recruitment over the years, I am told, has been done professionally by a private outsourced agency that follows a rigorous selection process,” he said.
Gyampo also refuted claims that he has been excessively travelling abroad since being appointed to the GSA.
He said he has only travelled four times out of thirty-eight opportunities to travel and that he is the only CEO in Ghana who travels on an economy ticket.
“Part of my work require that I travel and out of the over 38 opportunities, I have only honored 4 and these were with the expressed approval and permission from the Chief of Staff. Anyone can check for the evidence.” he said. “I have never travelled on First Class or Business class. I remain the only CEO in Ghana who travels on ECONOMY TICKET. Again the evidence of my boarding passes for all the four trips are there” he added.
Gyampo concluded by saying that his legal representatives are working to bring to book those spreading false allegations against him.
Analysis of Ransford Gyampo’s rebuttal to allegations
The allegations of Professor Gyampo recruiting mostly women to the Ghana Shippers Authority seem borne out of mischief since no evidence has ever been provided to buttress the claim.
The allegation appears to mostly be a trolling attempt to get under the Professor’s skin as one of the many ‘neutrals’ against NPP who have now landed an appointment under the Mahama administration.
If targeted at getting his attention, they have mostly succeeded.
As Gyampo has signalled his willingness to sue, we can only wait and see what the outcome of his legal action will be.
