McDan Warehouse Demolished by Alleged Security Operatives
A warehouse worker has narrated a tense encounter with men alleged to be national security operatives who demolished a structure reportedly owned by Ghanaian business mogul Dr. Daniel McKorley, also known as McDan.
“We were here when they came with excavators and we begged them to allow us take out our items from the warehouse because this is where we sleep, but they said no and that it was too late.
“They then proceeded to demolish the building, but after some time the machine got spoilt and they brought other ones to continue the exercise.
“When one of my colleagues attempted to video the incident, he was assaulted by the military officers,” the worker told UTV.
The incident took place on the evening of Monday, July 28, along the Spintex Road in Accra.
According to the eyewitness, the demolition was carried out without any formal explanation from the alleged operatives.
This development adds to the recent wave of troubles surrounding McDan. Just weeks ago, the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) shut down the McDan Aviation Private Jet Terminal over an outstanding debt exceeding $3 million.
The debt reportedly includes unpaid land leases, rentals, and terminal charges accrued over time.
This marks the second time McDan Aviation has faced such an action. In February 2022, the company was barred from operating its private jet services at Terminal 1 of the Kotoka International Airport due to what authorities described as operational breaches.
Alhaji Abdul Issaka Bamba, Chairman of the Ghana Airport Company Divisional Union of the Public Services Workers Union of TUC, told Starr FM that the debt has been pending for far too long.
He backed the GACL management’s decision, stating that any other partners with outstanding obligations would face similar action.
