Ablekuma North Rerun: See Full List of 19 Polling Stations Set for Fresh Elections

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced a rerun of the parliamentary elections in 19 polling stations within the Ablekuma North Constituency, following disputes over the authenticity of results from the December 7, 2024, general election.

In a statement released on July 2, 2025, the Commission said the decision was reached after extensive consultations and a thorough review of the electoral process in the affected areas.

The issue stems from the fact that, although scanned copies of results from these 19 polling stations were approved by agents of both major political parties, they were not verified by the presiding officers responsible for those stations.

To address the irregularities and uphold the integrity of the electoral process, the EC has scheduled a rerun of the elections in these polling stations for Friday, July 11, 2025.

The other 18 polling stations in the constituency, whose results were properly verified, will not be affected by the rerun.

This development comes just days after Parliament summoned the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, to appear before the House next week amid growing pressure over the unresolved results.

The EC has also been under increasing scrutiny for failing to complete the recollation of results, with the Minority Caucus recently petitioning the Ghana Police Service to provide security support for the Commission to finalise the process.

As a Ghanaian and a keen observer of our democracy, I think it’s a step in the right direction.

It’s important that this electoral issue is resolved through due process, so politicians do not exploit the uncertainty to incite young people into violence.

I cannot definitively state whether the NDC or NPP will win the rerun in Ablekuma North — that will ultimately be decided by the voters at the 19 polling stations on Friday, July 11, 2025.
