This Constitution Will Be Good for Our Development – Hackman Owusu Agyeman
Chairman of the Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hackman Owusu Agyeman, has expressed optimism about the outcome of the party’s ongoing constitutional review process, describing it as an important step toward the party’s continued development and relevance.
Mr. Owusu Agyeman emphasized the need for reform and adaptability in the party’s structures while peaking to Channel One TV on the sidelines of the NPP’s National Delegates Conference held at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Saturday, July 19, 2025,
“I believe that this conference will, in the final analysis, bring out a constitution that will be good for our development as we go forward,” he said.
He downplayed concerns over disagreements within the party regarding the proposed amendments, urging members to embrace change as a necessary part of institutional growth.

“I do not think there should be any problem at all. We have to understand that it is a human institution, and it is dynamic, and it goes forward.
“If there are changes to be made, we make the changes. That is what we want to do as we go forward,” he added.
The conference, themed “Rebuilding Together with our Values,” is aimed at reinforcing the party’s founding principles while fostering unity and introspection at a time of political transition.
Chairman of the Planning Committee, Joseph Osei Owusu, also shared with Channel One News that the delegates will deliberate on and vote on more than 50 consolidated motions—culled from over 300 proposed amendments submitted to the Amendments Committee after extensive internal consultations.
All attention will be focused on the Delegates Conference.
The future direction of the party hinges on the reforms they implement today.
If they do not present a challenge to the NDC, which appears to be firmly in control, the decisions they make regarding their constitution and their behavior as an opposition party will shape their destiny in 2028 and beyond.
